Sanitary and good hygiene practices and health and
safety protocols are particularly stressed amidst the present health concerns
happening around the globe. Against this backdrop, the SOCSKSARGEN Federation
of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. (SFFAII) has expanded its committed support
to frontliners to equip them as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In April 2020, SFFAII consolidated resources to
procure 43,800 units of medical supplies including surgical and reusable face
masks; disposable protective suits; goggles; disposable shoe covers;
non-sterile examination gloves; and face shields.
To make the turnover possible, SFFAII coordinated with
the Local Government Unit (LGU) of General Santos City; the Philippine Medical
Association General Santos City Chapter, Inc.; and other appropriate agencies
of government.
SFFAII is confident that the assistance will help stock
the frontliners as they continue to manage the city’s health situation. The
fishing industry through SFFAII continues to look for ways and means to be of
help throughout this pandemic.
Three (3) turnover activities transpired in April
2020. The following were the recipients: General Santos City COVID Center;
Philippine Fisheries Development Authority; Philippine Navy; Philippine Medical
Association General Santos City Chapter, Inc.; General Santos City Police
Office; Bureau of Quarantine; Joint Task Force of GenSan; and the Philippine
National Police Aviation Security Group.
