Members of the Federation led by Vice-President Dexter G. Teng and Executive Director Rosanna Contreras joined the 12th INFOFISH World Tuna Trade Conference & Exhibition, held at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand from May 23 to 25. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Director Asis G. Perez also attended the conference. This is a global gathering of players done every two years serving as a venue for the Tuna Industry to share and exchange information. The Conference Chairman In-Soo Cho, President & CEO of Starkist Co. USA in his opening speech discussed the opportunities and challenges the tuna industry is facing and what to expect in the future. With emerging economies, there is an opportunity for market growth. The challenge for the industry is in sustainably maintaining tuna resources which is believed to be renewable.
